Garcinia Cambogia evidências científicas da eficácia na perda de peso

Resumo

Face à crescente introdução no mercado de suplementos alimentares para perda de peso, é fundamental verificar qual a evidência da eficácia destes produtos na redução de peso. De entre os diversos princípios ativos de origem natural utilizados como adjuvantes na perda de peso encontra-se o Ácido Hidroxicítrico (HCA), extraído da casca de Garcinia Cambogia (GC). Efetuou-se uma revisão da literatura publicada até 2019 sobre este tema, com o objetivo de verificar qual a evidência científica disponível. Seguiu-se o método PRISMA. Foram encontrados 531 artigos, 498 dos quais na base de dados Pubmed, 17 na Lilacs e 16 na Scielo. Destes, apenas 36 artigos foram incluídos na revisão, 20 dos quais realizados em animais, 5 in vitro e 11 ensaios clínicos em humanos. A grande maioria dos estudos em animais reportou diferenças estatisticamente significativas no peso, ingestão energética e massa gorda. Na maioria dos estudos in vitro, o efeito antiadipogénico de GC foi comprovado. Por sua vez, a grande maioria dos ensaios clínicos em humanos falharam em comprovar a eficácia de GC na perda de peso, redução de massa gorda, ingestão energética, entre outros indicadores. Estes resultados atestam a importância de se realizarem mais estudos em humanos por forma a esclarecer a associação de GC com o controlo do peso.
