Perception of the body image of adult and elderly individuals
Abstract
Inadequate body image can lead to dissatisfaction with one's own body and can lead to eating disorders and disorders (anorexia and nervous bulimia). So, this research aimed to verify how adults and elderly individuals perceive his body image. It was assessed the body image of Adults and elderly through the Silhouette Matcching Task and Body shape Questionnaire. The analyzes have shown that most people are dissatisfied with their body image, they wish to lose weight. In female, the proportion of dissatisfied individuals increases. It was found dissatisfaction leads individuals to practice physical activity frequently. This fact demonstrates that body image dissatisfaction constitutes a strong predictor of the frequency in which individuals practice physical activity.
